In the description is says you need a magazine insert, which is sold separately. Can you use the current one in the mag or is it a different part? And if it’s a different part, do you have them?

Separate part. Also have to pin or block the somehow, as this will add a round capacity.

Edit: I'm referring to when used with the 10rd mag.

No, the Glock is pinned at the 14th witness hole, it is after the rivet. Nothing will be effected.

He’s talking about the 10 round factory mags, but no worries mine are pinned 15s. Just need a place to put my pinky lol.

The base plate insert for 10 or 10/17 round will not lock the +2 base plates to the mag. The insert will sit flat on the bottom of the +2 extension and not engage against the body of the magazine, which is what locks the base plate to the mag. You can assemble the mags using the original insert, and even load them, but the base plate may fly off with a bump or hitting the ground.

The backing plates are different between the two mags, we would run them without, they will work fine. As for the mag coming apart, you would have a better chance of winning the lottery then dropping the mag and having the base plate fly off. These are not Promags...lol

The backing plate is only used to make it easy to disassemble the mag.
