so you specifically mention the shorty shells in your opener and a few of us have asked about this as they are notoriously problematic, but no reply to this? orprice, availability...
There shouldn't be any issues running short shells in the Tac 14, Its the same action as any other 870. I run the short shells (00 buck and slug) in my 8.5" 870 and 18.5" 870, aswell as my KSG and have had zero issues.
Shorty shells don't run 100% in a 870.

I have tried shorty shells in several Rem 870s .... including my Tac-14 build ... and they do not cycle reliably!!!
However, I have figured out a trick ... and with this little trick they do cycle reliably .... however, cycling is much slower ... :-(
You rack the forend back ... and which will eject your fired shell and release a new shell from the mag tube.
You then turn your 870 upside down ... and rack your forend forward.
It works ... but you will not win a speed record ....
Keltec, Mossberg with opsol adapter, and Browning BPS will run shorty's with no issue
