It means to me that the newer powder is ever so slightly slower. But nothing adding half a grain wouldn't cure. The lots are very close. Much closer than some over the counter canister grade powders have been in my experience.
if you take the avg Velocity and Subtract the 2 numbers the lower the number the closer they are to each otherOriginally Posted by Buckmastr View Post

But
But
there are so many variables .... ie weather / temp / lot of brass/ rifle wear / lot of primers ..... if you can get less that 20 you could almost say they are the same .... but each lot is different
if you can get a load with the SD less than 10 you have a Great load .... SD less that 15 you still Have a Very good load
I have seen the Sd at over 100 .... Mark that one as Do not load again
But the real Prize is a Good Group at what ever range you are shooting ..... and velocity does not matter .... only group Size

I have been having good luck with the 42.5gr of D4895 in my 308 with 168gr.
Has anyone compared the D4064?
You meet the nicest people on a Honda!
I have just the newest lot and really like it so far. 6.5/284 7-08 270 30-06 type loads match very close to imr 4064 data
Any plans to bring D4198 in again in the future?
