Added it to the post. They are in the other tests. Missed this one I guess.

Do you need the lot# of the IMR powders?
Nope. They're strictly controlled so that published load data applies. The dominion powders are lot by lot and vary much more. Each lot will need to be worked up on it's own. That's why its cheap and you buy lots!

What makes these powder varies so much? Is the formula not the same ?

I think because they do it in batches, and the variance between those batches isn't well controlled, probably to save cost on more expensive or more precise equipment.

Once they set up the equipment to do a batch, the entire batch will be very consistent. But batch-to-batch consistency will be significant. This is in contrast the "cannister grade" powder which is quite consistent between batches.

    Ammo:
Virgin Hornady 6.5 Creedmore brass. Trimmed to 1.910.
    Weighed and sorted to .5gr
    Fed 210M primer
140gr Hornady SST weighed and sorted. Within .5gr (I wanted to use these up)
    2.690coal.
Charges weighed on a RCBS 5-0-2 scale

    18C at 300' elevation.
Labradar speeds 10 shots each load. Which was verified with my known 308 load.

    Load A:
    41gr IMR 4350
    Avg 2567
    Hi. 2593
    Lo. 2548
    ES. 45

    Load B:
    41gr D4350ssc LOT 25
    Avg 2450
    Hi. 2475
    Lo. 2432
    ES. 43

    The ES seems high.

Only did 10 shots today as I didn't think there was any need to get a larger sample for these 2.

    As for accuracy. Neither.

I added the 7828 as it is the only SSC I have.

I would say the D4350ssc is a considerably slower powder. Maybe even closer to 4831 or RL19 as some have already suggested. I had some IMR 4831 loaded up but not that low.
Even the IMR4350 is 150fps slower than the Hornady book using the same ingredients. Hornady shows 42grs of IMR4350 as a max load.

I will try the 300 win next. Just I had my scope lens fall out so it is in for warranty. Might be a month or 2.
Good to know, might be a good lower cost alternative to some slower powders. Thanks for testing it out.

Hey CanAm, any idea when you might see a restock of the D4064?

D4895 is not Varget. Load data is not compatible at all.
D4895 use IMR4895 load data less 10% as a start up.
Dominion manufacture IMR canister powder also, so they should know better.

Took out my 308 with a load development using D4895 and Lapua 155 Scenar-L's. My gun had the best 3 shot grouping at 39 grains. measured under .2". Will work loads up in and around 39 grains and try 5 shots.

    True it is not varget
However judging by buckmastr's testing it appears very similar. He has posted his results in this thread by the way.
Now it not enough to go blindly substituting it for varget but with proper load workup can get you to what varget will achieve. Not that you should go blindly into loading anything. I think that he has done a great job in posting his results with various dominion powders in this thread. It gives us a pretty good understanding on where to start with these powders.
The advantage is price and availability for d4895, for the time being that is
