be careful putting it back together after you clean it. i read that it can easily be mistakenly reassembled in a fashion that will destroy the rifle when fired. must be why there are almost none left. can we see into the action? i live the bolts on these things
If he took the time to suss out an uncut Ross, I am sure he is familiar with the design faults of the action. Faults which have been greatly exaggerated, by the way.
Nice rifle. I have seen a fair pile of Ross rifles at shows and auctions over the years, but unsporterized examples are like hens' teeth.

The fault you refer to was possible with the Mk 3 action. This is a Mk 2, and is a completely different action that does not have the issue. In addition, during service there were modifications made to the rifle to prevent improper assembly of the bolt. A Mk 3 bolt was also tested by Forgotten Weapons on Youtube and it was shown that an out of battery detonation, while bad, would not blow up the gun or substantially injure the shooter. The bolt was retained by the bolt stop and although it sheared off a couple lugs the damage was essentially nothing compared to the ridiculous claims of old.
