Does the x39 model digest surplus ammo well?
I've read many bolt guns have issues with surplus ammo .

I have three bolt guns in 7.62x39mm and each of them eats surplus without any hiccup whatsoever. You should only remember that surplus is corrosive and clean thoroughly after shooting. I use Ballistol oil for cleaning corrosive with a great success.

This is irrestistible!! Howa's rifles are super nice, Japanese are known for their perfection in production and tripple QC.
When they are offered with heavy barrels my heart melts, gotta start putting pennies in a jar for this one.

What twist on the 223? 1:9 or 1:8?

I have a Howa Mini Actin 7.62x39, it eats any ammo out in the market. By far the best trigger for all the guns I have shot, including REM 700

Edit: I stand corrected, there are indeed ten round .223 magazines in existence within Canada. Unfortunately still nothing on 7.62x39.
