The CMP already came back and said they cannot import them as they are not US Army property and that is their only mandate - sell US surplus for their marksmanship program.
Unfortunately much like canada they will be smelted as for mentioned fears of being used to commit a crime as well as devaluing the surplus market. Imagine your 8 to 9 hundred dollar rifle falls for $250 overnight because it went from rare to just another No8 on the market.
Although I would also take a couple in aheart beat....
