    DA - 50 Barrel Conversion??

    Just throwing this out there;

    Due to the upcoming legislation, how hard would it be to change the barrel and bolt out to another calibre on the DA - 50 so that does not fall under the ban hammer by the Fed's?

    If it's not too difficult, could you quick n dirty remove the barrel or torch cut the barrel to keep it off the prohib list???

    If this sound too crazy, please delete.

    Thanks

    why cut the barrel, the barrel and upper is a non firearm as it sits by itself

    I'm trying to think of a quick solution here without splitting hairs.

    Cutting would be a last resort, but I'm trying to find a conversion.

    Leaving the BMG on the upper, I can't use it, changing it out, I can.

    I have more than a few $$ invested here, along with the non - restricted lower.

    My end game is to be able to use it.

    Just reload with a sub 10000j load, yes it will suck but still fun and 50BMG. If they list a caliber have the barrel setback and rechambered to 510dtc with sub power load.

    This is what I'm looking for, but would having the capability of loading it higher, kill the whole idea.

    Which is almost like owning a .22 LR and saying I promise to only shoot .22 shorts in it.

    The wheels are being greased.

    Thank you both for the replies so far.

    That's why they didn't list a calibre and apparently stated "CAPABLE of 10000 joules"... There are a few other threads talking about this and those guys seem like big-bore aficionados.

    416 Barrett. Same bolt and tops out at 9.4kj with a 452gr bullet. Not sure about the 550gr though

    I dont believe the 50bmg AR upper is 10000j, closer to 5000j.
