    Announcement of Firearms Prohibition

    As you may know, on May 1, 2020, the Government of Canada amended the Regulations Prescribing Certain Firearms and Other Weapons, Components and Parts of Weapons, Accessories, Cartridge Magazines, Ammunition and Projectiles as Prohibited or Restricted (commonly referred to as the Classification Regulations). These amendments have the effect of reclassifying the following as prohibited firearms and devices:

    · nine (9) types of firearms, by make and model, and their variants;

    o M16, AR-10, AR-15 rifles and M4 carbine;

    o Ruger Mini-14 rifle;

    o M14 rifle;

    o Vz58 rifle;

    o Robinson Armament XCR rifle;

    o CZ Scorpion EVO 3 carbine and pistol;

    o Beretta CX4 Storm carbine;

    o SIG Sauer SIG MCX and SIG Sauer SIG MPX carbine and pistol; and,

    o Swiss Arms Classic Green and Four Seasons series (as specified in former Bill C-71: An Act to amend certain Acts and Regulations in relation to firearms).

    · firearms with a bore of 20 mm or greater and those firearms capable of discharging a projectile with a muzzle energy greater than 10,000 Joules; and

    · the upper receivers of M16, AR-10, AR-15 and M4 pattern firearms.

    An Amnesty Order, expiring April 30, 2022, has also been issued by the Government of Canada. This Order protects business owners from criminal liability for unlawful possession of a newly prohibited firearm if those business owners were previously in lawful possession of one or more of the newly prohibited firearms or prohibited devices on the day the amendments to the Classification Regulations came into force. This will allow business owners the time to come into compliance with the law.

    This announcement may impact your business as you may have these newly prohibited firearms/devices in your inventory. While awaiting further details on the buy-back program, every effort should be made to return the inventory back to the manufacturer. Please note:

    · They may no longer be sold to individuals.

    · They can be transferred to another business with the appropriate licence privileges.

    · If firearms are taken on consignment, they must be returned to the owner.

    · If the appropriate activity and conditions are attached to the business licence for prohibited firearms, the business can act as an agent for export or deactivation for an individual or other business.

    Businesses that are licensed to possess prohibited firearms will maintain this privilege but should familiarize themselves with the list of newly prohibited firearms and devices found at http://canadagazette.gc.ca/rp-pr/p2/2020/2020-05-01-x3/pdf/g2-154x3.pdf.

    Should you require further information on the announcement, please refer to the Public Safety Canada website at https://www.publicsafety.gc.ca/cnt/cntrng-crm/frrms/index-en.aspx, or the Canadian Firearms Program website at https://www.rcmp-grc.gc.ca/en/firearms/need-know-the-government-canadas-new-prohibition-certain-firearms-and-devices.

    Lettre à l'intention de tous les détenteurs de permis d'entreprise

    Annonce sur la prohibition d'arme à feu

    Comme vous le savez, le 1er mai 2020, le gouvernement du Canada a modifié le Règlement prescrivant certaines armes à feu et autres armes, composantes et pièces d'armes, accessoires, chargeurs à cartouche, munition et projectiles prohibés ou restreints (communément appelé le Règlement sur la classification). Ces modifications ont pour effet de reclassifier les éléments suivants comme arme à feu et dispositifs prohibés:

    · de neuf (9) types d'armes à feu, par marque, modèle et de leurs variantes;

    o fusils M16, AR-10, AR-15 et carabine M4;

    o fusil Ruger Mini-14;

    o fusil M14;

    o fusil Vz58;

    o fusil Robinson Armament XCR;

    o carabine et pistolet CZ Scorpion EVO 3;

    o carabine Beretta CX4 Storm;

    o carabines et pistolets SIG Sauer SIG MCX et SIG Sauer SIG MPX;

    o modèle CLASSIC GREEN du fusil Swiss Arms et fusils de la série Four Seasons (comme le précisait l'ancien projet de loi C-71, Loi modifiant certaines lois et un règlement relatifs aux armes à feu).

    · des armes à feu ayant une âme de 20 mm ou plus ou pouvant libérer un projectile avec une énergie initiale de plus de 10 000 joules;

    · des carcasses supérieures d'armes à feu de modèles M16, AR-10, AR-15 et M4.

    Un décret d'amnistie est en vigueur jusqu'au 30 avril 2022, a aussi été mis en place par le gouvernement du Canada. Ce décrèt protège les propriétaires d'entreprise qui étaient en possession légale d'un moins une arme à feu ou d'un dispositif nouvellement prohibé le jour où le Règlement sur la classification est entré en vigueur contre toutes poursuites criminelles pour possession illégale. Elle donne aussi aux propriétaires d'entreprise le temps de se conformer à la loi.

    Cette annonce peut affecter votre commerce si vous avez en inventaire ces armes à feu/dispositifs nouvellement prohibés. En attendant de plus amples détails sur le programme de rachat, toutes les efforts doivent être mises en œuvre afin de renvoyer l'inventaire au fabricant. Notez que :

    · elles ne peuvent plus être vendues à des particuliers;

    · elles peuvent être cédées à une autre entreprise ayant les privilèges appropriés en matière de permis;

    · si vous avez une de ces armes à feu en consignation, elles doivent être retournées à leur propriétaire;

    · si le permis d'entreprise est assorti des privilèges et activité appropriés relatifs aux armes à feu prohibées, l'entreprise peut agir à titre d'agent pour l'exportation ou la neutralisation au nom d'une personne ou d'une autre entreprise.

    Les entreprises détenant un permis pour la possession d'armes à feu prohibées conserveront ce privilège, mais doivent se familiariser avec la liste des armes à feu et des dispositifs nouvellement prohibés qui se trouve à http://canadagazette.gc.ca/rp-pr/p2/2020/2020-05-01-x3/pdf/g2-154x3.pdf.

    Thanks for the info guys.

    Important question : does this impact sales of internal components such a bolts, barrels or parts kit of the named firearms?

    Youza.

    I hope we have some allies within the Horse Gestapo who will throw a wrench in the gears wherever they can.

    I'm confused here. They state VZ-58, not CZ858. Do they actually know what they're talking about ?

    i would like more clarification on this part "Components and Parts of Weapons, Accessories, Cartridge Magazines, Ammunition and Projectiles as Prohibited or Restricted (commonly referred to as the Classification Regulations)"

    what do they mean by parts, accessories, magazines and ammo? are ar mags now prohibited too? how about stocks? what about .223 ammo? the press conference they held this morning was more about virtue signalling than it was about information

    C-71 already named a large chunk of CZ 858s in Canada, clearly this is intended for the Vz 58.
    I suck at responding to PMs. Don't take it personally.
