And I would hardly call s&j's work "cobbled" together.

Maybe his work is decent? i don't know. After seeing his posts in the soleyoutdoors thread which was started back in February I won't buy anything from him. I couldn't give two ####s about soley either, but to see those posts in another vendors thread....greasy.

Oh, thought that was the factory barrel, since all the pics ive seen of these things.... the barrel's are thicc.... to say the least, and the 16" factory version i had.... i think was a truck axel.... and sadly about as accurate.
Looking down the barrel, of 1984...

Everyone has the 700 PCR SB's on order, but none of them have been manufactured by Remington yet. Although BBB posted in the wrong dealer forum (there are several threads about these rifles), they're not coming any faster from one company or another. I'm sure S&J will be selling them when they arrive in Canada as well.

In the meantime, this Savage build, as well as some other pending projects, are a little higher end than the 700 PCR SB (based on a 700 SPS action and barrel). The IBI 10R barrels he's got are excellent, the MDT chassis are some of the best on the market, and everything is trued prior to building (which cannot be said about most factory Remington products). 13" is a pretty good sweet spot for building short .308's for velocity vs compactness; too short to put a folder on the carbine stock (as the barrel would have to be about 16" to be over 26" OAL), but stiff and accurate.

I encourage anyone that lives in the area to send them an email and see if you can check it out in person. This rifle is pretty amazing to hold, and I'm sure it will shoot spectacularly. I'm eagerly waiting for range reports.

LSS stocks are all AICS-style magazines - have a look at the Magpul AICS 10 and MDT's polymer, poly/metal, and steel magazine options for both .308 and .223

There are other chassis that could be substituted, but I'm not aware of any that use AR15/AR10 magazines for Savage Model 10/110, Remington 700, or Remington 783 actions. They're not set up to feed from those magazines.

Is there any chance of just selling the barrels?
