In 1980 I got my first pellet gun for my 13th birthday. It was a Crosman Model 760 Pumpmaster given to me by my father for thinning out the gophers in the cattle pasture in southern Saskatchewan, and that I did. By the time I was 22 I was hunting big game in northcentral British Columbia. Took my first bull moose with a borrowed 7mm Rem Mag on the side of a mountain with a picturesque view of Takla Lake’s NW arm in the background and the intoxicating aroma of freshly cut spruce in the air. Purchased my own 7mm that Christmas and my father-in-law taught me how to hand-load my own ammunition. Joined a search and rescue team in 1997 in order to learn how to survive alone in the bush. I then would go for days long hunts, packing my kills back out to the road on my backpack. Have not been active for several years now but still interested in learning about the experiences of others in the hunting and shooting community.
