    Info for challenge needed

    Dear Shooters,

I am looking for info on:

    1) The Deer cull by the hired NZ'ers... It sounds like they used AR15s... but I need to track down concrete info.

    2) More info on the OIC reversal in 1978/79 in regards to the AR15 being moved from the Prohibited cat to "Restricted"...

    Thanks,

    JR

2)Joe Clark took the AR 15 off the restricted list during his short term in office as PM as I recall.

in 1977, Ottawa made the Colt AR-15 semi-automatic rifle a restricted weapon, much to the consternation of gun groups. Joe Clark’s government reversed this decision, although the Liberals again declared it a restricted arm in 1998.

    Pre-1977 - Non-Restricted
    1977 to 1979 - Restricted (Trudeau - Bill C-51 - Criminal Law Amendment Act - Introduced FAC)
    1979 to 1992 - Non-Restricted (Joe Clark)
    1992 onwards - Restricted (Mulroney with Kim Campbell - Bill C-17 - SOR/98-462)

    JR,

Please note that the Ar-15 was non-restricted before 1977. It was restricted by OIC in 1977. In 1979 after Trudeaus the senior implemented the FAC system the AR-15 was moved back to non-restricted via another OIC.

It'a also my understanding that the Liberals originally intended to prohibit the AR-15 back in the 90's in C-68. However, the DCRA made strong enough representations that it was used for sporting purposes that they backed off and only moved it into the restricted category again. I strongly suggest you contact the DCRA for more background.

Even used suppressors to make sure they didnt hurt themselves or the dogs hearing.

I would reach out to the tribal council and see if they could give you the name of the company involved.

Why not make an ATIP request for information straight from the source?

Not known to the public but suppressed C6's have been used on Suffield Base to cull the elk as well - I knew one of the machinists who manufactured suppressors - back in 2009/2010... sorry I have no further leads. But if you know any Fish Cops who are involved in the management of the heard they may have supporting deets?
