Dear Team Democracy,
Today was a huge day for the firearms owners of Alberta. Premier Kenney launched the “Firearms Advisory Committee” made up of 12 like-minded folks. There is not one anti-gun person on this as there does not need to be.
If you’re wondering why I am not on this committee; yes it was discussed with the Solicitor General, but since I’m suing the Federal Government , it kind of puts me in a conflict position. I am however, ecstatic as I did forward to the Solicitor General; 4 names to be considered and by luck, all 4 are on this committee. This is great news for all of us.
I think this committee looks solid.
This committee will put together the plan for the Premier on where to take both the office and the position of Chief Firearms Officer.
This committee will also put together a plan and framework on how this office and individual can help Albertans.
Yes, it is not a quick fix, but we need some time to get this right.
Today, the Premier also indicated that the Alberta Government will take an “intervenor” position on our lawsuits (I'm thinking both mine and the CCFR challenges). This is also of great importance and the Province can argue points that I nor the CCFR can not. This effectively doubles the power.
Strength in numbers!
I applauded the Premier and want everyone to know that I think today is a historic day where more and more are speaking out against the incredible overreach and undemocratic activities of the Federal Government.
Any positive court findings in Alberta have HUGE positive impacts across the country. So this really is awesome.
Stay safe,
JR
