You must have missed this in the instruction manual that came with your Renegade builder set!!

I would strongly suggest everyone who builds one read the manual thoroughly.

I personally thought this was a step that I could skip as I have built several AR's. However I was mistaken!!

I missed the part about the gas rings as well, but saw the error of my ways BEFORE I made it to the range.

This specific issue is addressed on page 15 and is attached as follows

So yes, you need to remove the gas rings!

    I hope that helps

    regards

I know when I removed the rings it made a world of difference. I have two youtube video's with the renegade. One is first range day with it. you can see I had two hard to rack pulls and then the second video is butter smooth with the rings removed. https://youtu.be/r-kCpMGy2jc

    second vid is here https://youtu.be/9EYCIAkn71s

Thank you very much for that info. The bolt was one of the last things to go together and I was pretty tired when I did that. Will take out the has rings and see how it works after that.

Am I correct in assuming that to go from .223/5.56 to .300 Blackout in a Renegade requires only a new barrel? And obviously the discipline to make sure the correct ammo is being loaded and chambered.

Here's a photo of my finished build.

I'd change my name if I could, trust me.

Oh, that's pretty! Did you make the wood furniture yourself, did you pick it up from Canada, or did you slip it across the border and somehow avoid the AR flag from customs?

I made the wood furniture myself yea, walnut with brass. The charging handle was done with the help of a friend who had access to a lathe. Rest was done with hand tools and alot of patience

I am not a big fan of wooden AR's, but I am a fan of your work, you did a great job
