This is correct. It all comes down to the LEOs. Will they start pushing us into the train cars or not?

Take firearms away, disband them. In generosity i will leave them one old horse(grandfathered of course, because its a variant), and one motorcycle.
A free society must outlaw harming innocent people to function, but when we seek to curtail what all of us can do, rather than holding each of us responsible for what we actually do, we give up on freedom itself.

That's not what it comes down to at all. Of course they'll push people into the train cars.

What it comes down to is whether or not people will push back.

Freedom does not, and never has, come as the result of hoping someone else will let you have it. It comes from refusing to let someone take it away.

I have been waiting months for my pal because of covid. My first purchase was going to be a sks from my buddy. Do u think it will still be a wise purchase or will it be hotter than a two dollar pistol before summer is over?

If you get one cheap enough and avoid collectible models absolutely I’d go for it. You’ll get most of your money back in a bad scenario and if the worst case erupts, none of it. I really can’t see how they’re planning to “buy back” every single “assault rifle” after the shambles the economy is already in. He’s got 4 years to execute this plan, 2 of which are his amnesty period right? 4 years isn’t an awful long time for somebody who has to rub two pennies together and come up with a few hundred million dollars.

Worst you have to lose is a couple hundred on an SKS, and if you’re really opening her up you should have time to empty a few spam cans.

I think he and his witch for a wife, won’t be attending our annual wild game dinner for hunters and sport shooters this year? I am all for reducing the scope of what police are responsible for in Canadian society. Here's your problem. You have a Pal that needs to get renewed. You need ATTs, you need Transfers. Defunding the police WITHOUT changing the laws will actually make your firearms owning experience worse. Now if only we were to change the laws so that we did have classification, or registration, or licensing or any of that nonsense, then licensed gun owners wouldn't care if the police get defunded or not.

Now if you were a criminal, who didn't bother with a license, or registration or any of that nonsense, then defunding the police without changing the law simply means lower likelihood of getting caught and convicted.

Do what do you actually want? Do you want to be free of bad laws and their consequences? Or do you want bonafide criminals to get a free pass?

Civilian technicians in Ottawa run the FRT. Not uniformed peace officers. There are some interesting rumours and theories about the recent change of leadership at the RCMP firearms lab, and if true, paint a picture of just how difficult it is to get one of these civilians out of the way.

But lets be clear about one thing. RCMP bosses will never look at their budget and then tell some drones to quit messing with the FRT, and there will never be any credible threat of posting. The Canadian Firearms Program has two client groups. The public, and other law enforcement agencies. The FRT was invented for use by other law enforcement agencies to assist in firearms identification and prosecution of criminals. Long before budget constraints reduce the efforts to maintain an 'accurate' FRT, they will reassign people away from public facing services such as processing licenses and transfers.

Why would they do that? You think Alberta is going to create their own police force out of thin air? Half the RCMP in Alberta will quit the day Alberta creates its own police force and rebadge to Alberta provincial police. Another quarter will simply retire. The rest of the RCMP is chronically understaffed anyways, so all they will be doing is filling vacant positions that were already budgeted for.

The only people who get hurt by Alberta creating its own CFO or police force is Albertans when their taxes go up to cover the costs.

    Very very well put.

Possessing a break action cooey was made a criminal offence in 1998. The limited window of exception that you could jump through to escape prosecution has been ratcheting smaller and smaller ever since. This was process has been carried forward by Liberals and Conservatives alike. You can make fun of your fudd neighbors all you want to. Your neighbor is the only one who has a chance of standing beside you when the state comes to take your guns away. And if you voted, regardless of who you voted for, you voted for the state.

You are judged by the company you keep and who you break bread with.

Perhaps the CCFR, CSSA, NFA or one of the business that have been devastated could be invited to give another perspective.

Either way I would never associate or wish to be connected with Liberals anymore then someone would with the Hells Angels, Antifa or National Socialists.
