Glock 17C has compensated barrel and 17 doesn't. Also called ported barrel.

What this means is that in a compensated barrel gas is also released through openings on the slide. In the “normal” version the gas only escapes through barrel.

What this does is reduce recoil and make 2nd shot more accurate.
