"I probably don't know half as much about this as I think I do."

Very cool.
If Ye Hath Fought Like a Man, Ye Needen't Hang Like a dog.
I had one years ago. It had a gorgeous light wooden stock with a flame to it. The bore was toast though, very deeply pitted. Which was odd, because the rest of the metal was spotless. It also had a jury rigged magazine that was cut down for hunting, I think. Botched.
Too much of a project for me, so I sold it on.
They drove a 30-30 adapter in the chamber usually the mags are either missing or finicky to feed. $100 tops
My father told me a neighbor had one, had to load single. If mag fed it would stand the shell up too much and not feed.
I expect some conversions was executed better than others.
This isn't your 10/22. This is a firearm for a collector looking for an incredibly unique piece. Considering it is pre WW2 it is in stellar condition. Even as a wall hanger this is a great buy at $350.
As far a load issues - we haven't fired it and the owner said that it works. That is all we are able to discern.
