What is interesting about these conversions is that the barrels are original, and have never been set back. The chambers have been sleeved. That is a bit more adventurous than I would ever be, particularly with the conversions to .308. That is a lot of pressure in a sleeved chamber. Never heard of one failing though. If I were to come across a salvage grade specimen, I'd love to section the breech of the barrel, and see how the conversion was done.
Well, if the buyer and seller are both happy at $350, good for them.
I was given one quite a few years ago. Missing magazine, botched amateur checkered sporter stock, wrecked rear sight (spring up) and trigger guard, etc. I gave the barrel to a gunsmith buddy and traded the bolt to a guy who needed one for a box of 30-06 ammo.
