    Lightbulb Light Practical Carbine Upper Receiver Vise Block

    Hello CGN,

    With production of our Light Practical Carbine coming along nicely we are now releasing the required upper receiver vise block.

    Since the Light Practical Carbine is truly a novel firearm vise blocks for other guns like the AR15 are completely incompatible. We have designed a simple, easy to make vise block.

    The Light Practical Carbine vise block is a 3d printed part that you can make yourself for free or buy from us. It is a single file that you need to print twice. It is released under the under the Creative Commons - Attribution - Non-Commercial - No Derivatives license. This means you can make your own for free, but you may not sell it, or redistribute derivatives of it.

    The following print settings should work for most printers:

    • Material: PETG
    • Layer Height: 0.3mm
    • Nozzle: 0.4mm
    • Infill: 60%
    • Infill Pattern: Grid
    • Skirt: Yes
    • Temp: 240
    • Bed Temp: 90


    If you have a larger nozzle you can print thicker layers. We are going to try a 0.8mm nozzle and 0.6mm layer height.

    I don't have a 3D printer but it's cool you are giving the file out for people that do. Classy.

    I have soft plastic jaws for my vise, would they work as well? Maybe not as positive a clamp though.

    I wonder if PLA would hold up with more infill?

    It probably would if you used a "tough" pla and printed it slowly. The issue with PLA is it can be brittle.

    Plastic vise soft jaws likely wouldn't work. You really want the vise block. We will have some available on our site shortly for those who can't print their own.

    Yep familiar with the brittle issue with PLA. Will give it a try at 4mm nozzle, 2mm layer height, 40 mm/sec and 80% infill. Only 18 hours per side, lol

    If that doesn't work I'll just get a spool pf PETG and hope it does not stink up the house.

    PETG doesn't smell at all. It's nothing at all like ABS.
