Billy Blair at it again... Directing the CBSA on seizures of parts

This week we learned of an RCMP memo sent to the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA). The letter advised “some AR-15 parts” are now prohibited based on the OIC, but the RCMP memo did not specify which ones.

The problem is the RCMP’s guidance to the CBSA on AR-15 parts – it’s intentionally vague and misleading.

Worse, Bill Blair refuses to correct the RCMP’s error.

As a result of this intentionally vague RCMP memo, the CBSA is now seizing all AR-15 gun parts at the border, even though they are perfectly legal to import.

The CBSA, after relying on bad advice from the RCMP and in the absence of correct information, are erring on the side of extreme caution.

The only AR-15 parts the Minister's putrid May 1st Order in Council banned are AR-15 upper receivers. Order in Council SOR/2020-96 reclassifies the following parts as Prohibited Devices:

    • The Regulations also prescribe the upper receivers of M16, AR-10, AR-15 and M4 pattern firearms to be prohibited devices.[i]

    Upper receivers.

Every other part of the AR-15 (with the obvious exception of the lower receiver) is an uncontrolled spare part, yet there are 48 cases ongoing because of this RCMP mis-directive.

Now individuals and businesses must fight with CBSA to obtain their legally-imported spare parts.

If Minister Blair actually cared about the rule of law (as he claims), he would order the RCMP to give the CBSA accurate information instead of forcing them to guess.

He would immediately order the CBSA to release all shipments of AR-15 spare parts, without penalty or storage charges (and with an apology letter for the illegal seizure).

This problem is 100% Minister Blair’s fault:
    • He drafted the Order in Council.
    • He is the Minister in charge of the RCMP.
    • He is the Minister in charge of the CBSA.
    • He refuses to order the RCMP to give CBSA accurate information.

Canadian individuals and businesses, 48 of them at last count, are suffering even more because of his ineptness and incompetence.

This is just getting so out of hand so fast. At what point is this going to end? Are spare parts for AR15 airsoft rifles going to be next because they resemble AR15 parts? Like Jesus..

Well, the legal teams should file the motion to get the injunction hearing on the OIC. That's the only way to put a stop to this.

    1) starting 2018 (approx) they purposefully allowed the NR black rifle craze to occur by approving rifles as NR. Most cost 2000.00 plus all said and done. Firearms enthusiasts buy them en masse, spending millions on the firearms, parts, accessories. Canadian businesses struggle to keep up with the demand and invest large in "black rifle" inventory. Manufacturers seeing an opening in this niche market invest further millions to design, manufacture and bring to market offerings that are again.... classified as NR by "them"
    2) 2020 pulls the rug out from under the "black rifle" community as well as snaring many other firearms in a so called "assault style" firearms ban which devalues property in firearms collections across the nation.
    3) it was all done intentionally to financially ruin firearms owners and businesses. Allowing so many firearms to be classified as NR and subsequently approved for sale and then to turn around 2 years later and prohibit nearly all of those recent "assault style" FRT additions since approx 2018.

this was all methodically planned to cause the most damage to the firearms community as possible and Justin has been PM through all of it.

CBSA is also in the pocket of the lefty regime as they are so eager to comply with and very often overreach thier mandate seizing property from canadians.

I saw in another thread (One of the ones complaining about CBSA seizing AR parts) that said parts for prohibited guns are prohibited from import?

    Firearm parts
    113. For the importation of frames or receivers, the requirements are the same as for the importation of the firearm for which the frame/receiver was designed (see definitions of firearm and receiver). Border services officers will also ensure that the firearm parts are not prohibited devices in themselves (see "Prohibited Devices").

Note: Receiver blanks are considered to be a controlled firearm if they are manufactured to become a controlled firearm receiver. The requirements are the same as for the importation of the firearm for which the receiver blank was designed.

    114. The importation of parts for prohibited firearms is controlled by the Export and Import Permits Act. An import permit will thus be required for such goods. If a component or part is declared, but still falls within TI 9898.00.00 because the correct authorizations, licences, or permits are not available, then the parts are prohibited from entering Canada. More information on the import permit requirements for prohibited firearms parts may be obtained by contacting Global Affairs Canada.

You are giving the idiots way too much credit. Trudeau can't find his way around a cardboard drink box water bottle sort of thing, in a planned press conference with prepared notes, where the question he was asked was specifically on topic with the purpose of the press conference.

Everything these morons do is so ham fisted and ill conceived that there is no way any of them are capable of coming up with something such as what you suggest.

Time for everyone to contact the CSSA and dealers to contact the CSAAA and ask what they are doing about this? Those organisations should be our voice.

Complaining on CGN and signing another petition will achieve nothing.

Bill Blair is the perfect example of political ambition overcoming ones own integrity. Shameful.
