A Collection of Truthful Reports of the CCFR Integrity March

Target gun crime efforts at communities in need, not legal owners

The thousands of people marching in Ottawa on Saturday to denounce the Trudeau government’s gun ban have an unlikely ally in Toronto.

A former gang member, who has used, sold and smuggled handguns, agrees: the government’s prohibition won’t stop the shootings on the streets.“Zero impact,” is how Marcell Wilson summed up the effect of Trudeau’s gun ban on gang shootings.

He’s not wrong, the stats back him up.

In Toronto, Canada’s largest city and the epicentre of gun violence, gun crime is up since Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced his prohibition in May on so-called “military-grade assault weapons.

From May 1-Sept. 6, there were 208 shootings in Toronto with 92 people injured and 14 people killed. Shootings were up 12.4% from the same time period last year, 24% compared to 2018 and up 83% compared to 2015. Deaths are also up.

Some 5,000 people marched on Parliament Hill on Saturday to tell the government it is on the wrong track. More than 230,000 people signed a petition against the Trudeau gun ban plan but the government is pushing ahead, not listening to these citizens.

Maybe they should listen to Wilson.

“The gun ban agenda, it’s offensive in a way,” Wilson says. To him, banning AR-15s and other rifles has nothing to do with helping poor, often minority communities dealing with gun violence.

“Attaching our plight to it, which are people who are marginalized, polarized, racialized communities, is causing a whole lot of harm
    .”........

Other than the "800" low balled size figure, this is a balanced report.

People are super frustrated:' Gun owners, firearm activists march at Parliament Hill

An estimated 800 gun owners and firearm rights activists assembled on Parliament Hill on Saturday to express their displeasure with the federal government’s gun policies, especially the ban on assault-style firearms announced after the mass killing in Portapique, N.S., in April.

“They are going to spend billions of dollars confiscating our legally-acquired firearms that are locked safely in our safes, in our homes,” Tracey Wilson, vice-president of public relations with the Canadian Coalition for Firearm Rights, said in an interview before the downtown march.

“At the same time, they’ve failed to accomplish anything as far as combatting the actual violence that we’re seeing in the streets, in cities all across the country, and, to me, that’s a big problem.”

In the past five years comprising the federal Liberals’ tenure in government, Wilson said she had observed a “huge increase in participation by Canadians all across the country in this type of (firearms) activism,” linked in large part to the introduction of gun control Bill C-71 and May’s order-in-council outlawing more than 1,500 types of firearms.

Surprisingly Narcity is pretty neutral on the reporting. The 800 figure was probably copied from associated press or someone else.

We saw the guy with the Trump Rambo flag which looks comically ridiculous - CCFR should have better screening of what it is permitted to enter the march

Hundreds Marched In Ottawa Over The Weekend To Protest Canada's Gun Ban (VIDEO)

    Helena Hanson1 day ago
They carried signs with messages such as "guns are godly."

Hundreds of people showed up in Ottawa at the weekend to voice their opposition to Canada’s gun laws. Pro-gun activists attended the march to speak out against the new firearm ban, which was introduced earlier this year. The protest was dubbed an “integrity march” by those involved.

On Saturday, September 12, around 800 demonstrators marched on Parliament Hill, speaking out against the alleged "injustice and ineffectiveness" of Canada’s recent ban on military-grade weapons.

The ban, introduced by the federal government in May, prohibits the purchase, sale, import and transportation of around 1,500 models of firearms in Canada.

Those involved in Saturday’s march argue that this ban will impact legal gun owners in Canada, rather than those who commit crimes with weapons............

The first one from Torontosun point out something, but too bad no more facts provided to support us more:
How many guns related to those crimes are from the "legal" gun owner? And how many guns are not?
I believe it will be more convincing if we have those numbers.

No military grade weapons were banned on May 1. Stop giving these people credit for objectively bad reporting.
