And I just noticed that the new ones have the slot machined in the outer magazine tube support.

Thanx for the enlightenment.
Live & learn.
I knew Henry would eventually have to bite the receiver loading gate bullet because of the large number of Winchester 92 & 94 diehards that declined buying Henry rifles because Henry had "dug in" on center fire tube loading.
The customer (the guy whose money you need to stay in business) is always right.
Seems the new Henry levergun the "Big Boy Steel Side Gate" has BOTH the tube loading and receiver loading ports.
I have the only other levergun I'm aware of that has BOTH tube & receiver loading ports which is the Amadeo Rossi 92 in 454 Casull.
Time to reset and rebuild
Brno, CZ, Henry, Mauser, Ruger, SKS, Tikka
Mine is upgraded if you zoom in on the tube.
