If a lawyer is handling your case how do you accumulate $11,000 in expenses?. Time lost? Income shortfall? Medical expenses? Just asking. Does this insurance have a deductible?

The lawyers bill for their time would be the primary cost in any legal issue.

Canadians have (a) the right of the individual to life, liberty, security of the person and enjoyment of property, and the right not to be deprived thereof.

    Never in doubt, seldom correct.

While "swatting" is real, so is kidnapping! Emergency medical calls just don't go down like that. And, compelling someone to seek a medical/psychological assessment under the Mental Health Act is not a criminal charge. Were any criminal charges actually laid? And what was this "application" that was mentioned?

Also, what of the ex? Was anything done about him after? Like a mischief charge? Sounds like one should've been pursued, and if you want to spend our money on this... whatever this was, then we deserve to know what happened with that.

    NEED. MORE. INFO.
This... As someone who has had to make those mental health evaluations on the spot, this isn’t how these things go down. No need to exaggerate (or fabricate) a story to sell your insurance - it’s a necessary product, but not for far fetched fiction like that one...

My criminal lawyer requires $2000 up front to even look at a file. He routinely charges $20-25K for matters that don't even go to trial. He isn't a hot chick, but he wins. And he lives down the street from me so the retainer I paid him was pretty much nothing.
My divorce lawyers are $650 and $600/hr.

Legal bills pile up quick for people who are run through the wringer.
You are right about one thing: I'm a big bad mother f--ker and I'm here to drink your goddamn milkshake.

You pay firearm legal defense insurance so what service is provided when needed? Isn't the lawyer's fee part of the insurance you have paid for?

Its not just your ex you should be worried about. Your neighbor, uncle who owes you money, cousin, friend, ANYONE can make 1 phone call and ruin your life at a whim. I know this isn't what you want to hear, but keep your firearms ownership to yourself. Stop posting pictures of your guns on Facebook, stop showing off your guns to your neighbor, stop talking about them with your coworkers. Don't tell anyone who doesn't need to know.
