I wouldn’t be asking if it was an American rifle, but it’s European - so is this cut to handle 5.56 safely, like CZ rifles in .223?

We've been told that these are .223 Remington chambers only. The barrel stamp also says .223 Rem.

I used to have one of these and asked the same question to Benelli directly. The person there mentioned that it could shoot 5.56 without issues. I ran 55gr 5.56 out of mine and it was ok. See below.

You can shoot 5.56

the benelli MR1 is CIP spec. 5.56 is definitely ok. CIP doesn’t distinguish between 223 and 556. It has the higher pressure as its standard. It's stamped .223 just like the CZ527, which is also CIP spec.

I really like mine. A super fun plinker.

Some European countries don't allow any firearm that's chambered in "military calibers".

So it makes sense to label everything for .223-Remington.

Former owner, absolute tack driver. I actually liked the way it looked, but found it a bit front heavy and the ergonomics were not as "tacticool" as my X95 (which is WAYYYY less accurate) and my ARs (F**king Lib gov't).

Ive been eyeing MR1s since like 2011, the cheapest I EVER saw a new one go for was $1600cad. *** AND that was the plain Jane comfortech stock model*** ..... The telescopic model MR1s have been going new for $2000cad+ since the beginning of time. Al Flahertys price isnt off the MSRP by any stretch!
