8 rounds of .357, loaded with .38 special it should be more than that.

I would love to see a 9mm bolt/lever gun in Canada. The latest lever 357/44's are a fantastic idea but with the price of ammo, a 9mm would be a very welcomed addition for those of us who do not want a semi.

As mentioned below by another member I think it would depend on what projectile type you are using. I'm not an expert on .357 vs. .38 special but there is only a 3.2mm difference in case length. The .357 magnum case is 33mm long so a .38spl case is about 29.3mm long. 3.2 x 8mm is 25.6mm. So you might be able to fit another round of .38spl but I don't think you could as that is still less than the case length (not even including the projectile). Common projectiles for .38 special are LRN, FMJ and SJHP which all protrude out form the case a decent amount. Now if you were using a semi-wadcutters or wadcutter I definitely think it's possible you could fit an extra round or two in there. Basically there would have to be a significant difference in overall length of the .38 special cartridge versus the .357 magnum, you can't just fit more based on the fact that it is a .38 special.

Feel free to let me know if you think I'm wrong, but calculating tubular magazine capacity this way has always worked for me with shotguns. Such as a "5.9 round capacity for 3" shells in a semi-auto"; 5.9 x 3 = 17.7 inches of magazine capacity. 17.7/2.75 = 6.4 rounds of 2.75" shells.

In the video they fire 9 shots after loading, so maybe there was nine in the tube but more likely it was: Load 1 round > chamber > load 8 rounds.
