Forum member 421SuperDuty posted a thread on the black forum about China and Norinco's newest service rifle, the QBZ-191. It will be a non-bullpup, traditional rifle, more akin to TI's well liked and bought Type 81 import, but with a proper railed top and other modern, black rifle features. According to the article 421SuperDuty included in the thread from the Asia Times, the standard infantry version would have a restricted for Canada 14.5" barrel, but there will be a longer-barreled marksman variant.
The rifle's caliber will be a Chinese military proprietary round , but it was proposed by members on 421SuperDuty's thread that an export version in 7.62x39mm or .223 may be possible. Just thought that if anyone could work with a factory in China and bring in a semi-automatic, non-restricted variant for the Canadian market, Tactical Imports could. This won't happen anywhere in the near term, with the rifle just being released, but I thought it would be useful to have on TI's radar as a long term potential project. Thanks!
