I have the backpacker and it works great for the camp site, I would guess about 12-14 square meters. Not great in the wind, but the bugs are usually hunkered down when it becomes no good. You really need to shop for the consumables as they are readily available, but you will pay for it if you don't buy them in bulk beforehand. I also have the personal units and as has been stated they are good for stationary use or slow walk but useless running or biking.

This is a great product. I us them when sitting on patio and they do work. Don't hesitate to give them a try.

These are fantastic. I have had them for 3 seasons and not 1 complaint.

Used them in the military and camping/hunting, takes about 10mins to start working and it's a absolute life saver!

They work really really well in low wind conditions. If it's windy the chemical gets blown downwind, but so do the bugs. I think the thermacell repellents are fantastic.

Game changer for sheep hunting. Like having a bug force field.

Since it uses a chemical, is safe to use with children around? I have a 1 1/2 year old

I've been pleased with my portable unit for a couple of years and bought one for my daughter to use by her pool with her 5 and 6 year old kids. No bugs. Wind is a factor but if its blowing hard the bugs are gone anyway.
