I always wondered if firearm legal protection insurance was worth having ; and if it actually worked , or if there are too many exclusions . Does anyone have firsthand knowledge of any firearm owners who have actually received a benefit from having this type of insurance coverage ?

Not saying anything bad about Capri but in general I think insurance companies business model is to collect as much premium as possible and to pay out as little as possible,
so if they see a way to deny a claim they likely will..

Capri has been very good at detailing their response to issues they have dealt with.
Suffice to say, better to have it and not need it, then to need it and not have it.
Just like auto insurance or medical insurance.
Life insurance...that's up to the individual betting they aren't going to die.

OIC prohibited thousands of firearms, but no licence related to that prohibition was ever issued.

Does this mean that policy holders of the recently prohibited firearms have zero coverage?
I would interpret that as the policy holders are not covered for any events in relation to those firearms.

Right but your insurance policy doesn't exclude firearms "where the owner is breaking the law". It excludes owners who do not have a license for the firearm which is everyone who has one.

A grace period which protects you from conviction and penalty is not the same thing as being in lawful possession.

Everyone who possesses an AR15 right now is a criminal. We are breaking the law. The amnesty does not make us legal. It simply protects us from prosecution.

Side note. What about after the amnesty expires?

The only thing worse than needing it, and not having it, is needing it and thinking you have it, when you don't.

Is the prohibition via FRT and the possession of such firearms covered?
They were never prohibited by law, only by opinion....a vague and inept opinion....

the way its worded looks like there is already no coverage. This will most likely not be an issue because the intent is to not insure illegal and crime guns and houses but if the insurance decides that paying you money for your house if it burns down is not helping their bottom line then good luck in court.

That's what I would like to know too. The OIC guns are one thing, as they are clearly prohibited firearms, but the ones that went prohib due to FRT changes are not prohibited by law, and the fact that most of those guns were previously classed as NR makes you really question the validity of the opinion.

Murray Smiths testimony should make it clear to everyone that there is no clear procedure or identifying characteristics. Merely their inept and convoluted opinions.
As long as he gets to keep his Browning BAR....

I think If Capri is willing to fight this for policy holders, they will have a much larger customer base.
