This looks great. I don’t understand how these FRT rules work though. How is this rifle any different from a Maccabee or ATRS modern rifle?

Its actually not, these are build on Maccabee SLR lowers, which is why they don't need to apply for a separate FRT,
Just like how SAI TR never applied for one as its a copy of the Sporter

I believe this looks like it uses all standard AR-15/10 style parts, however it only looks that way and most standard parts are not actually compatible with the receiver set. This was done intentionally to prevent it from falling victim to the trappings of being a “variant”.

Nope, They are 100% compatible with AR parts, you can strip an off the shelf AR to build receivers if you wanted to.
I've handled both 223 and 308 versions in person, I can attest, Foxer2373 is correct, QC is non existent.

Id also much rather not purchase a firearm from a manufacturer that bloats about his firearm being named as such because that's the rifle you will pick up to rescue(RS-Q1/2) you family when the government comes for you.
That moment was cringe at best, let alone down-talking every other brand including the Manufacturer who provided the Lower Design to them to manufacture (that he then sued for loss of income or something)
