Buying a gun from US site with no FRT

    Hi there,

Just wondering if it is possible to buy a gun on the US site that does not yet have an FRT in Canada. Something that is not prohibited.

If so what is the process and timeline?

Flat rate shipping to Canada is 25.00USD on all accessory and ammunition orders regardless of quantities ordered. Firearms are exported to Canada at a flat rate of 25.00USD per firearm.

No FRT means they can't import it doesn't it? So they would have to get an FRT issued before bringing it into the country?

The process generally means it’s gets submitted to rcmp and ~2 years later they may make a decession. If it’s deamed prohib you just lost your money.

It can be done. Many firearms don't have an FRT with the RCMP yet, because no one has tried to bring them into the country before. It doesn't have to be a brand new design per say, just a company making the same gun, that hasn't sent any to Canada yet.

If it's a new gun entirely it can take some time. If it's a known firearm from a new manufacturer, it might only take a few days to few weeks. Then again the last time I heard of it being done personally was a few years back so, things may have changed.

No, that is incorrect. They can be imported into Canada, we just do not release them until they have a restricted or non restricted

between the USA and Canda there is a diplomatic protocol that requires the import and export of firearms that are given an FRT. Those with no FRT are usually shipped in to the RCMP SFSS for evaluation where the FRT is assigned.
