    Canadian IMP Rations

Hi! Because of the meal types listed I don’t believe these are that old? But can you confirm their age? I’m looking to purchase 1 of the spaghetti and meatballs and 1 of the hashbrowns and bacon. Also can you confirm these are the newer types that have the heater bags like the American MREs? Thank you for your time,

Canadian IMPs have never come with ration heater bags

Speaking from experience (33 years service in the CF), that is not accurate. They didn't come with heater bags in the early years, but they certainly were added later.

hmmmm.....I am NO expert for sure but none of the canadian rations with the white covered foil outer bag nor the newer tan coloured ones I've ever seen had heaters...I always heat mine up in a stainless bucket of water over a fire...

The newest ones are packaged in a plastic bag like the American MRE and rumour has it they now come with ration heaters in them. I haven't eaten one yet so can't say for sure. Any Canadian ration from previous years in the brown paper bag don't have heaters in them.

My recollection is there is a year on the outer packaging. Bin Rats use that for stock rotation to issue to oldest ones first.

Not sure how current this link's information is - https://www.mreinfo.com/internationa.../canadian-imp/

Apparently the new IMP's coming out next year have flameless heaters and have been redesigned.
