I bought a sporterized Lee enfield once that had 5 holes drilled into the top of the original buttstock for this effect with a foam cheek piece over top as a riser for the scope height on some homemade kind of hinge or latch or something. Always wondered why no manufacturers did that from the factory
Also have a speedfeed stock on an 870 and always wondered why that never caught on
