Another Savage project! Mod24D trigger guard

It seems I'm on a Savage kick lately! I had a fellow ask if I could make a replacement trigger guard for his 24D combination gun.
Apparently these were plastic and had a tendency to break.
Which is a shame cause they're otherwise a solid little gun!

Managed to do some math and get a test piece roughed out, next up is going to be 3D contouring to match the curve of the receiver...

If anyone else has one of these lacking a guard, let me know...

Things are looking up! The next batch of scope mounts are ready for bluing and this trigger guard is taking shape...

I took that stock material off the side...

Did some 3D contouring to match the receiver...

I was able to save a bit of time by using a profiling cutter I had made for a previous project.

Not a bad finish for a "home made" tool!

A bit of final hand shaping...

    The moment of truth!

I'm happy! Once it gets blued, I think its gonna look great!

Two questions; will this fit a 24V in .222/20 ga. and what are you asking for one?
