I bought the New Ruger/Marlin SBL 45-70 several weeks ago, installed a Ranger Point M/Brake & Leupold 2.5 - 7, 30mm s/s scope
shoots great about 1in. at 25 yrds with 405 gr. Remington after sight in i could still hold a coffee with effects from the recoil.
Just bought the Ruger/Marlin 1895 Trapper 45-70 but haven't shot it yet.
Like the op said the fit and finish on the new Rugers is perfect can't find a single thing wrong with them money well spent

Coming soon. The first Marlin rifle manufactured by Ruger. The Model 1895 SBL in 45-70. Estimated arrival is six months or so...(Don't hold us to that).

Will check back in Feb 2023. I really, REALLY want this one. Please bring in a lot. You just know it will sell out.
