Actually, if I'm not on a farm or near crown land, is a gun cabinet logical? Or a case? I don't plan to use it around where I live - I would have to transport them somewhere to fire them

Come to think of it, I don't think moisture will be a big issue. They'll probably be stored in the basement and there's a furnace running in the winter and a pair of dehumidifiers running in the summer.
Ok, I see your recent posts now. You could use a single gun soft case for transport of either or, just make sure it's long enough and "high" enough. There are long shotgun cases that aren't high enough to hold a scoped rifle, and there are scoped rifle cases that aren't long enough to hold many shotguns. The example you posted is 48" long. It could probably fit a long gun up to about 46" in length. It depends on the case but that's what I've found, generally subtract 2" from the case length to compare against the overall firearm length.
If God didn't want holsters to be leather, he wouldn't have made so many damn cows.
the metal case is for storage at home. i wouldn't call it a safe as a crowbar and 5-10 min would open it up. But it does have a built in lock.
They are specifically made to hold long guns but also have space for other stuff.
This is the metal locker for home
