Not yet, maybe. But it's coming...

So if this ends up as a short stroke piston how exactly does it differ from the APC 223? Use of AR handguards and buffer tube/stocks? Looks awesome, hopefully we get some at some point...

APC and others like SCAR, AR18, etc, they are designed to run a square block of BG on rail or guides bolted to the receivers that are made of alumimum extrusion tubes or folded sheet metal. - Stoner DI is designed with a tubular BGC with no rail, so the upper can be bored down a solid forging. That combines with a return spring behind the BGC, further reduces either the height or/and the width of the upper dimension.

The main difference becomes receiver geometry and advantage of the later is low bore to sight height and more compact upper footprint - making a generally more compact package. The disadvantages were always cost before CNC and forging became lower cost and more scalable than other methods somewhere in the 90's.

Cool, thanks for that. Makes sense. If I understood the video correctly though the SPC doesn't have a full length recoil spring/buffer in the buffer tube? The recoil spring only goes part way into the buffer tube. So basically the SPC will be a piston "pseudo AR" vs the APC being more like a modern AR-18? Potentially less expensive than the APC and able to take AR handguards and other bits, possibly? Looks like a great option regardless.

Well no it won't be able to take AR handgiards and other certain parts (maybe trigger, stocks, grips) but the spc also has the mp5 style charging handle up from so no AR hamdgiard will work with it
