Got mine, and had my SKS modified at the shop. Very pleased with performance: no jams or failures, AND you can top off mags with stripper clips!! Only issue I had was with a tight magazine, but that was the mag's fault as none of my others gave me issues.

On an aside, have you tried using the Norgon-style ambi mag catch with this? Would it work?

Have not tried one, the release is based on the AR mag catch, but simplified.

No, that is the only stock they dont work with, the metal is too thin around the mag area.
