Unless one has acess to some kind of a de-contamination setup before re-entering their homes from outside (such as series of shower heads like in a carwash), these chemical suits won't be of much use against getting nuked.
 
If you think replying on surplus NBCD gear is going to work out for you if it happens you are going to have at rude awakening. But the up side is at least you wont be alive long enough regret it

If you have a newly manufactured mask and filter, only using the surplus suit may still work. Most are just buying because it’s fun so wont matter.

Surplus suit wont save you either, they were surplused for a reason. If want to buy it for the novelty fill your boots, just dont deliute yourself that you are gaining any protection.

Good point, and don't dilute yourself just because you paid money on some shiny new gear, that your going to be a sole survivor roaming the apocalyptic waste land.

Dilute - to water down. Dilute concentrated chemical by adding two parts of water to one part of chemical.
Delude - to believe something that is not true.
 
My suits showed up this week. I'm really impressed with the quality of these. The pants have suspenders and velcro straps on the legs and waist. The mask is very supple and seals tightly to my face. I expected these just to be like rubber rain gear but they're a different material. The suit comes in its own nylon stuff sack.
They're a neat piece of surplus. Match my AR too!

Yah want to wear the mask THEN put the hood over top. Also duct tape (non silver) over the sleeves where the gloves are. Hope those masks have a built in water drinking straw cause you will need it
