PAL Returned - Section 16d - Depression - Question on how to respond on the App

A group of us did your in-class training together.

One persons application got sent back because, in the past they were diagnosed with mild depression and medicated for it.

They are no longer medicated or suffer from depression.

The Application asks for details on a separate page.

QUESTIONS:
1. Do we just type out the details?
2. Do we list what the medication was?
3. How much/little details is acceptable?

Any insight would be appreciated.

They suffered a bout a mild depression a few years back. They were medicated but no longer are being medicated or suffering from depression.

Is there a best practices way to respond? The RCM P don't provide any details on what they expect for a response.

Application was filled out and sent to RCMP.
The RCMP Returned the application with an area highlighted

16. d) Have you ever threatened or attempted suicide (this isn't he case) or have you ever suffered from or been diagnosed or treated by a medical practitioner for: depression, alcohol, drug or substance abuse; behavioral problems; or emotional problems.


They suffered a bout a mild depression a few years back. They were medicated but no longer are being medicated or suffering from depression.

We have to resubmit the application to the RCMP with an attached paper explaining the details. There is very little information about what they are seeking to see attached.

We are curious of understanding best practices when responding to them.

Let me start with saying this is just my understanding of the matter and not actual experience

Tell whomever to talk to their GP/Psychiatrist who treated them for a reference letter on the subject.

Ie Basically said persons doctor has to explain that they are not likely to self-harm, harm others, relapse into substance abuse if that is a factor etc.

Continued medical therapy/counseling should not be a valid reason for denial if the above is cleared.

So resubmit with the with the above information should get things going.

If they don't send a refusal/the new update is taking months contact a local MP and tell them you are not being given public service in a timely manner and maybe float the idea of discrimination.

If for whatever reason they send said person a refusal letter they can file a s74 hearing. Which should be noted in the refusal letter.

The CFO will in this hearing have to tell them the exact reasons for the refusal and they will at this time state their reasons why they should not be denied after which the judge can order the CFO to issue the license.

Your answer seems to be in your post? Just answer the question as written no need to add things that are not asked for or guess what those things might be?

Provide the dates involved and wait for further instruction if necessary.
