Black Box Customs is disturbed to learn of the Federal Government’s decision today to introduce legislation that purports to permanently end the purchase and sale of handguns across Canada. This sort of uninformed, knee-jerk reaction does nothing to address the problems surrounding unlawful possession of firearms by street criminals and elements of organized crime and only targets law-abiding gun owners, sport shooters, and competitive handgunners. We are currently studying the wording of today’s proposed legislation and regulations and will have further comments in the coming days.
For those wishing to purchase a handgun now, we would be pleased as always to complete your order and to initiate a transfer but ultimately everyone will need to be aware that it remains to be seen if the CFO will continue to process transfers. If they do not, then we will of course immediately reverse the purchase and promptly refund your money
For customers with ongoing projects at our shop, we are treating them as “business as usual” as we don’t view these as the “purchase and sale” of firearms. We view this as our performing services to your personal property and we will continue to fulfill your orders.
