Time to bump this back to the top for more action. We must spread the word on this action before it is two late, every day every hour counts!

We don't have to limit this appeal just to IPSC, all handgun disciplines should make their voice heard, Cowboy Action and IDPA are just two examples.

Not quite correct. C-21 does in fact contemplate an exception for Olympic competition. From section 43 of C-21:

43 The Act is amended by adding the following after section 97:
    Exception — handguns
97.1 Sections 12.2 and 19.1 do not apply in respect of an individual who
    (a) holds an authorization to carry in respect of a handgun; or
    (b) meets the prescribed criteria and provides a letter to a chief firearms officer from a provincial or national sport shooting governing body indicating
    (i) that they are training, competing or coaching in a handgun shooting discipline that is on the programme of the International Olympic Committee or the International Paralympic Committee,
(ii) the disciplines in which they train, compete or coach, and
(iii) that the handgun in question is necessary for training, competing or coaching in those disciplines.

Recommend changing the title of your thread to avoid specifying IPSC.

My MP is liberal, don’t expect much, after all these letters and petitions.
In my opinion organizations should be involved, as they have some resources behind. Right now they are mostly collecting money and producing YouTube videos.

Apparently IPSC Canada just donated half the year's dues to CCFR. $30,000 is a good chunk of change but it's sad their existence needs to be threatened before help like that is given out.

Just because you make a financial contribution to an organization does not mean you no longer need to be active. This goes for groups as well as individuals. Why are gun owners so lethargic and expect some one else to act for them? Lots of gun owners think if they signed a petition they did their part, well signing a petition simply does not cut it.

Thus is a sad situation indeed.

Suggestion - lobbying that other international shooting organizations in general should be included as an exemption would likely be strategic. Eg Shooting Para Sport (para Olympics,) Deaf Olympics, FISU shooting (world championships and universiade) have all been omitted from the proposed legislation and would likely be the wedge necessary to revisit the list of exemptions, which is where IPSC, Etc could bring forward an argument. A top IPSC, PPC and ISSF shooter are all superb shooting athletes.

While I’ve seen the argument IPSC is a feeder steam for the Olympic shooting, which is possible, there’s likely a stronger argument it’s sport for life (post Olympic style shooting or in conjunction with Olympic style shooting).

Lastly, join the Shooting Federation of Canada - which represents the Olympic style events is simple way to demonstrate you’re linked to the Olympic style events. It’s likely 40$ at most to join

Having spent much time engaged in politics in the past decade, largely because of the gun cause, I can confidently say that bodies and voices count far more than money in politics. At least in Canadian politics, anyway. Show your face, talk to people, make noise (politely and respectfully).
