Stop the motion on Bill C-21 regulations: Freezing Handgun Transfer

So is there any chance to get our Conservative members to pass a motion to defer the vote until the Canadian public can view the proceedings?

I doubt it. The last time one of these meetings were “In Camera”, the topic of discussion was: “ Gun Control, Illegal Arms Trafficking and the Increase in Gun Crimes”. That was on March 29 2022. One would assume they are going “In Camera” for the same discussion topic.

The opposing party could have the best, most reasonable and sensible idea and the ruling party will completely ignore it just out of principle.

This whole B***sh*t announcement was no coincidence. The Texas shooting was the (almost) perfect opportunity for the Liberals to stoke the fire in the Conservative leadership race. The Liberals want to "scare" the gun-owning (mostly conservative-voting) public into the camp of the most conservative of the conservative candidates. They believe the fear of losing our hobby would make us vote for Polievre as leader of the conservative party. I have nothing against the man, but I don't think he could get elected across the country by all segments of the population - NDP-ers and Liberals would not vote for him, and that's just what the Liberals want! They don't want to have to fight an election against a half-liberal like Charest or Brown because they would probably lose! Trudeau is hated even by the liberal voters, so Charest looks awefully good right now. BTW - I don't think Trudeau will be running again in the next election. He will be "retired" (get the boot) because he has become too much of a liability. Afterall, it's the party that's in power and controls the country, not the politicians...

Gun ownership being just a hobby is quickly becoming a ridiculous notion and Charest knows this is a big issue. He flip flopped and promised a review and wouldn't touch existing gun laws so does that include the OIC ban?

The left is terrified of Pierre because he's the first person that could pull a serious voter base, so all these "what we need is another o'toole, that appeals to everyone, because that works well" posts suddenly showing up.

SECU is set to vote on a motion Tuesday June 14th to approve regulations that will freeze handgun transfers. They have cited the run on handguns as reason to pass the motion immediately.

The run on handguns is basically over, with almost all transfers initiated.

However, 1000s of private transfers have yet to be initiated due to the complete failure of service at the CFP. Many of these private transfers involve collectible and vintage firearms from older sellers passing their property down to the next generation.

We must ensure that these firearms are transferred.

Let's pressure the committee members to study this regulation in accordance with fair democratic principles, specifically the NDP and Bloc members:

• Inventory at retailers is already sold out, prematurely passing the regulation will not prevent a run on handguns
• Licensed individuals are not able to initiate private transfers given that the Canadian Firearms Program is overwhelmed
• These private transfers are made up of people trying to pass down collectible and vintage firearms of important historical importance
• Many sellers are pensioners and older folks on tight budgets trying to get fair market value for their collectibles before a freeze is implemented

Is it a long shot? Yes. Is it naive? Perhaps. But the issue of private transfers is being ignored outside the firearms community. We need to do whatever we can, before it's too late.
