The ATRS Tyrant Muzzle Brake was designed for use on semi-autos. It is just a muzzle brake, not a firearm.

What about the new lower is a serious improvement? I handle both regularly and don’t see or feel it. What am I missing? both are great.

Original lower was just a square block, with a pistol grip bolted to it. No contouring or anything, so the top of your trigger hand is kind of wedged up. On the Specter lowers, they're contoured at the back so you've got proper ergonomics.
