Note: There was some bugs with check-out initially with regards to selecting "mount: none" and using visa as method of payment, both issues have been fixed. Our apologies for the inconvenience!

Thanks!

I'm new to the Type 81 scene but liking what I see. I guess the Red Dot vs Scope is preference, but what would everyone else go with?

curious what kind of accuracy we can expect

taken from their page
"The accuracy potential of the SR is very ammunition dependent, with best results achieved with Hornady Black 123 GR SST and American Eagle 124 GR FMJ, (av. 5 shot groups at 100 yards@ 1.5-3 MOA). Mixed results observed with other brands. 100 round break-in period was observed, whereby groups began to tighten up further after that point."

They state with good ammo they got between 1.5 MOA and 3 MOA...If I balled out and got a 3 MOA'r I'd be not happy. Then again, it's probably very dependent on load.

For what it's worth, the Type 81s I have tried shooting were all pretty dang accurate, especially given the pretty poor iron sights. If I had the money to toss at one of these, I definitely would, and SVD it out. Closest we're going to get to an SVD anytime soon. Imagine pig or deer hunting with this. It would be so silly but so cool.

I miss the days of $40-45 boxes of 50 round Hornady steel cased SSTs. They always shot well, were dirt cheap, and would be a great hunting round. They made slightly less accurate guns a safer buy.

EDIT: I would absolutely buy one in x54r, even if I had to sell half my other guns. Probably just a dream though, doubt the Chinese would want to retool anything significant.
