That's how all online sales work? Taxes are charged according to the shipping address (or billing address, I forget, I think shipping), so if you're in BC... you get charged BC taxes. Amazon, shopify, etc, all work the same way.

I don't think so. I deliberately order from out of province all the time because they don't charge BC provincial sales tax.

its called Provincial sales tax, and is for in province sales.

I bought a bunch of out of province and never paid PST, just the GST.

Sounds like the store you bought from messed up or they made less than 30k in sales. Think of it as a bonus that you didn't have to pay both gst and pst.

I've lived in BC and AB. Done lots of online shopping in both provinces. Taxes are charged according to where the goods are shipped to when shopping online.
5% when ordering from any other province when being delivered to AB.
12% when ordering from any other province when being delivered to BC.

"If your business earns more than $30,000 a year (regardless of whether it’s a profit), you must charge your Canadian customers sales tax as per the rate of the province you are shipping it to."

Just let sleeping dogs lie and order from a retailer that doesn’t charge the 12% when shipping to BC. There’s still a few out there.

Steyr GB! This is some old timer collection.

I remember seeing steyr GB when I was a kid in some old gun rag from the 80's.

And colt American, can't believe these things start surfacing again.

There is a Revenu Canada form you can submit to recover any sales tax amounts that where incorrectly charged to you.
