That may be true, but you cannot charge BC PST without a BC PST account. On the other hand, BC PST has their own rules on who can/need to sign up. See link below. Basically I am a small business selling in Ontario. I only advertise in Ontario. Some BC clients can find me on Google through organic search, but I don’t advertise directly to BC. Therefore I didn’t need to sign up for a PST account and therefore only charge 5% to BC orders.

As per CRA regulations we post our BC pst number on our invoicing.
