Registering Buying Restricted Firearms?

This is most definitely a 101 question.. But I'm new and the ban looming - so want to make sure everything goes smoothly.

After I purchase and receive the transfer # from the vendor (store). Am I expected to anything else?
I have received the transfer # from the vendor today.
But when I login to the RCMP Firearms website and click on "If you've already submitted one or more registration application(s), click here to check the status of your application."
I don't see anything in progress.
Is it just too soon - or am I supposed to register it using the transfer # as well?
