Man I worked for a gunstore for five years it was great. Easily half of the job is an enjoyable bs'ing about guns all day. Really makes the little speedbumps of it go down smooth (sometimes less than polite customers, inventory etc etc etc).

Whenever I'm in my local gunstore it seems all the staff are bs'ing about guns or talking to one or two customers.
Not sure how they make money. Maybe internet sales (which they have all the time).

Hey man do you think it's the low prices that make and keep regulars? Why even have staff if it's just all about price?
Anyhow with a bit of smooth talking and a customer that's clearly got money to burn (I'm a sailor I know that feeling) and wants some gucci gear, just a gentle guide here and there and you can easily rack up a huge sale. One of my finest was just over $10k.
Of course you have to respect people and their desires, a guy that just wants to meat shoot deer for not a lot of spend and someone that just wants a cheap 22 you help them do exactly that. I've even talked a guy down from losing his shirt selling his barely fired 308 sako to go .30-06 because his hunting buddy said it has "way more power", if you crunch the numbers it's like 7% at best more power.
