If what is proposed, becomes law, and our prohibited long guns and handguns are of no value and cannot be sold, I am absolutely positive this will increase the number of illegal firearms on our street as elderly owners will likely not allow the guns to be “rounded up” by the authorities upon the owners death, instead the firearms will likely be part of an underground market created by the elderly owners prior to death

This is the intention. By making all firearms illegal or prohibited you now make all legal gun owners as potential criminals. Now with their increase gun sentencing you now have the strength to punish a significant population if they do not comply.

This is not a political party move, this is the government in general. They do not want civilian firearm ownership as it can be seen as a threat. If this was legitimately about safety they would also remove firearms from our police service and government security.

Exactly and that’s why they’ve simultaneously increased gun crime charges. This is strategic. It’s not to target criminals it’s to target legal gun owners who will likely be seen as criminals in the coming years.
