Something was brought up in the shop today and merits a question to be asked. Now we are going a little ways back in the past here and hoping someone would know or know someone whom has had one... But did Cooey rifles when they were still in production come in a box? What was their packaging?

The question arose from someone claiming to have an original unfired Cooey repeater, in the condition just as it would have come off the line..

So what would that have looked like!? He did not have a box with it, and it was far from unfired brand new but the question still remains in my brain..

Let me know!

Wow. Very good question.

My Dad used to sell these in the Barrhead Co-op Store back in 1970. I don't remember any boxes, although that doesn't mean they didn't have one.

We bought a Cooey Hiawatha 22 LR bolt action repeater. It was a great rifle until my drunk brother lost it somewhere.....:(

When all this firearms foolishness started was at the father in law’s place and a gentleman came in with a model 60 Cooey with the checkering on the stock new still in the box. He did not want to deal with new Regs that were in place and gave him the rifle. The rifle was in a white box with writing on it. Can’t remember exactly what was written but if I saw the box probably could possibly identify it.
P.s. He ended up giving me the cooey years later out of all the ones I’ve had or seen over the years it’s the only one with the checkering on the stock that I’ve crossed paths with.

Mine came in the white box like the one posted. Model 64 ,bought it in 1968 with paper route money , (well.. my dad had to help)

Awesome stories everyone. I keep every gun box to this day!......:)

Some think it's strange, I think it's very cool.

Actually very smart, since people will buy a rifle and years later will go to sell it, however if the rifle is comparatively rare it will be worth quite a lot more to a collector if you still have the original box it came in.
